Obituary of Marjorie Dawn Rockefeller

Heaven received another precious angel today. Marjorie Dawn Rockefeller, from Apalachin, NY passed away peacefully into her heavenly home on March 23, 2024 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 86 after a 5 year battle with dementia. Marjorie was born on March 15, 1938, and grew up in Montrose, PA. She was the third daughter born of 12 daughters to the late Harvey S. and Kathryn L. (Whalen) Winans. She graduated from Montrose High. She was predeceased by her loving husband Willard Rockefeller for 48 years of marriage. He was the light of her life. They would go on many adventures together through the countryside of Pennsylvania enjoying the scenery and stopping for a nice meal somewhere. She loved Spring, loved cooking for her family especially at Thanksgiving time, planting her flowers, and taking care of her lawn and home. However, her biggest joy in life was spending time with her children, grandson and family. Marjorie was a loving wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt and friend and will be deeply missed. She is survived by her son Kevin Rockefeller (Apalachin, NY) and daughter Karen and son-in-law Rod Makoske (Boyds, Maryland), grandson Colby Makoske (Boyds, Maryland). Predeceased by grandson Cody Makoske. She is also survived by sisters Connie M. and Robert Porzucek of Vestal, NY, Patsy Jenner-Puzo of Montrose, PA, brother-in-law Paul Ferencik of Vestal, NY, Jeannine VanNort of Montrose, PA, Millie and Robert Nemcek of Friendsville, PA, Kathy and Mark Kovach of Conklin, NY, brother-in-law Gordon and Michelle Rockefeller of Maysville, Kentucky, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by sisters Shirley Winans, Marilyn Quiggle, Phyllis Barrier, Sharon Winans, Gail Ferencik, Joyce Warner. Brother-in-law Wilson Quiggle, brother-in-law Gilbert Barrier, brother-in-law Lane Puzo , brother-in-law William VanNort, sister-in-law Jean Cheer, brother-in-law Jake Cheer, sister-in-law Veronica Rockefeller, sister-in-law Joan Rockefeller and brother-in-law Frank Rockefeller. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at the Vestal United Methodist Church, 328 Main St., Vestal. The Rev. Mike Willis will officiate. Burial will take place in Vestal Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 765 Main St., Vestal.
